About Bondi

Located just 8 km from the city centre, world-famous Bondi Beach is one of Sydney’s busiest beaches and the setting for more postcards and travel snaps than perhaps any other destination in Australia.

Experience Bondi’s carefree, sun-drenched lifestyle with a walk along the main promenade and up to Bondi’s northern headland where you may spot humpbacks during the annual whale migration season between May and November. The Bondi Markets on Sundays are popular for gifts, flowers and food.

Hall Street is home to Bondi’s main dining precinct, with favourites like Gelato Messina and Bills. A great beachfront dining destination is Icebergs Dining Room and Bar. For a more casual experience, there are outdoor cafés and fish and chip shops directly opposite the beach.

Popular pubs such as the vibrant Beach Road Hotel and the prominent Hotel Bondi offer a relaxed atmosphere where you can meet travellers from almost anywhere and sample some of the best Australian beer. Or sip Australian wines and cocktails at delightful bars including Ravesi’s, Bucket List and Anchor.

With plenty of things to do in the area, visitors can swim year-round and even plunge into the popular ocean baths as soon as the sun comes up. Surfers can be spotted paddling through the waves each morning and several surf schools operate along the beach, such as Lets Go Surfing.

Sculpture By The Sea is one of the world’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibitions, held for several weeks in October and November along the spectacular Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk. With the vast Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, you’ll see more than 100 sculptures by local and international artists.
