Sydney is a fun city for kids of all ages. From beaches, zoos and aquariums to parks, playgrounds and museums, Sydney has attractions for tots to teens. There are also plenty of exciting things for children to do in the NSW regions like learning to surf or paddling a kayak.

Watch the antics of Australian sea-lions Miya and Lexie at the seal show at Taronga Zoo, a short ferry ride from Circular Quay. Help feed Rex, a 5-metre saltwater crocodile, at the WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo on Darling Harbour, near the city centre. For more amazing animal encounters visit the Australian Reptile Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, an hour’s drive north of Sydney.

Young stargazers can see nebulae light years away at the Sydney Observatory, near The Rocks and Sydney Harbour Bridge. During the day you can look at the Sun with special lenses. Ride the Big Dipper at Luna Park, across the harbour from the Observatory. 

Sydney and the NSW coastline are blessed with numerous beautiful beaches such as world-famous Bondi Beach and gorgeous Byron Bay on the North Coast. The Royal Botanic Garden and Centennial Parklands in Sydney’s eastern suburbs are two of many parks in the city where kids can run wild. World Heritage areas, such as the Blue Mountains, have marked trails through ancient forest, some suitable for young walkers.

Two hours’ drive south of Sydney, near Kiama, is Jamberoo Action Park, with thrilling water rides that the kids will love. Don’t miss beautiful Minnamurra Rainforest, a short drive from Jamberoo, where you can stroll through the rainforest on raised boardwalks. And soar through the trees at Illawarra Fly Treetop Adventures.
